The Legendary Cinnamon Hoya: Now Floating
Bring high-end boutique greening into your architectural space with the spectacular Hoya lacunosa. Native to the high-canopy tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, this beautiful epiphyte grows naturally tucked into tree bark rather than grounding in standard soil. To highlight its aerial nature, our design team has hand-wrapped its root structure into an artisanal, live-moss Japanese Kokedama ball, transforming it into a zero-gravity living sculpture.
Uniquely Dimpled Foliage
The name lacunosa perfectly describes its distinguishing feature—the beautiful, waxy green leaves are distinctly "lacunose," meaning they are deeply grooved and sunken between the veins, giving the cascading foliage a beautiful three-dimensional texture.
Prolific Blooms and Nighttime Fragrance
Unlike many slower-vining varieties, Hoya lacunosa is a remarkably generous and fast bloomer. Throughout the warm season, it pushes out small, round umbels containing up to 20 star-shaped, fuzzy white flowers with vibrant yellow centers. As dusk falls, these blossoms release a powerful, exotic perfume reminiscent of fresh cinnamon and baking spices, filling your interior naturally.
Why the Hoya Lacunosa Kokedama is a Must-Have:
- Prolific Bloomer: Re-blooms repeatedly from the exact same flower spurs (peduncles) season after season.
- Space-Saving Vertical Accent: Lightweight and ready to hang from window frames, balconies, or modern shelves.
- Forgiving Nature: Succulent-like leaves safely hold water, comfortably adapting to busy household schedules.
- Botanical Profile: Genuine Hoya lacunosa native to Southeast Asian rainforest canopies.
- Signature Texture: Small, lanceolate green leaves displaying uniquely sunken, grooved veins.
- Aromatic Blossoms: Produces fuzzy, parachute-like white umbels with a distinct, spicy cinnamon fragrance.
- Artisanal Mount: Wrapped inside a premium, moisture-retaining organic moss Kokedama sphere.
- Continuous Re-blooming: Flowers emerge from permanent woody spurs—never trim the bare flower stems.
- Pet-Friendly: Safe, non-toxic foliage certified safe for households with cats and dogs
Light Requirements: Demands plenty of bright, filtered indirect sunlight. Perfect for areas near east windows or bright, shaded balcony walls. High indirect light encourages fast growth and prolific flowering spikes.
Watering Strategy (The Dunk Method): Do not water daily. Lift the Kokedama ball occasionally; when it feels lightweight and the moss feels dry, submerge the entire ball in a bowl of fresh water for 10–15 minutes, then let it drip dry completely before rehanging.
Substrate & Aeration: Roots are nestled inside a highly porous mix of coco-chips, charcoal pieces, and sphagnum moss inside the Kokedama to mirror their natural tree-dwelling habitat.
Temperature Profile: Thrives beautifully in typical warm, humid environments (18°C to 30°C). Keep safely away from freezing temperatures or direct draft lines from air conditioning units.
